The North Ayrshire
Fiddle Workshop

NAfW

Welcome to the web pages of The North Ayrshire Fiddle Workshop.

We hold classes for absolute beginners*, intermediate and advanced players. If you would like to play traditional Scottish fiddle music, please come along. A limited number of loan fiddles is available; no previous knowledge of music is required.

* Unfortunately, we have had to (hopefully, temporarily) stop our adult beginner's class as attendances have fallen off. There were not enough folks turning up for it to continue -  some nights no-one was attending; so this class on ice. If enough folks indicate that they would like to learn from scratch (we're thinking 3 or 4) then we could possibly restart the this class but, at the moment, we can't afford to run it when there seems to be no demand.

Please note: Kids classes and the other adult classes will continue as normal. See About Us for details.

Spring term 2009:

The Spring term starts on Thursday 15th January; 6:45pm in Auchenharvie Academy, Stevenston; see About Us for details.

More About Us

We are a (very) small group of enthusiastic amateurs who are interested in fiddle music, in particular, but also traditional music, in general. The club is run by us in our spare time (and possibly our long suffering families get roped in sometimes, too). We don't make any money out of this; in fact, quite the contrary.

We are not affiliated to or a department of or associated with North Ayrshre Council. The name 'North Ayrshire Fiddle Workshop' derives from the fact the we have a fiddle workshop situated in North Ayrshire. From time to time we may make use of facilities provided by them (we find their roads and pavements particularly helpful).
